The Redshank (Tringa totanus) is a medium-sized wader with red legs and a similar beak base. It belongs to the Bakasaceae family. It can sometimes be mistaken for a Ruff. He announces his presence by soft whistling. It nests in wetlands, wet meadows, banks of rivers, lakes and ponds. In Poland, it occurs throughout the lowlands, although usually very rarely. It is rarely found in Roztocze. Right now, in April, it is the period of the female laying eggs in a hole hidden in a tuft of grass. Hatchlings are nestlings and, immediately after hatching, their parents lead them to wet areas, rich in food consisting of invertebrates, insects, worms and molluscs. The greatest threat to this species is the disappearance of its natural habitats and the drainage of meadows and pastures, as well as early mowing of meadows.
